New Delhi, Aug 24 : Union External Affairs Minister S M Krishna on Monday expressed India''s concern over terrorism and said that it was high time Pakistan dismantled terror from its soil.
“India is willing to cooperate with Pakistan, including addressing each other''s security concerns. But, the biggest impediment is and continues to be that Pakistan side is being used by terrorists who have attacked India repeatedly and those terrorist infrastructure are not being dismantled,” Krishna said while speaking to media persons in the national capital.
“I think that is the cause of concern for us and we are still hoping that Pakistan would realise that is about time they should react favourably to India,” he added.
Earlier on Friday, Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao had given the sixth dossier to Pakistan''s High Commissioner Shahid Malik regarding last year''s Mumbai terror attack, which claimed at least 166 lives.
India has insisted that Pakistan has enough evidence to successfully prosecute leaders of the Lashkar-e-Taiba militant group, including Hafiz Saeed, who was detained in the wake of the Mumbai attacks after a UN Security Council resolution put him on a list of people and organisations supporting Al-Qaeda.
Saeed was later released by the Lahore High Court on grounds of insufficient evidence. (ANI) |

New Delhi, July 31 : Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar has said that the government will provide Rs 1,000-crore subsidy on diesel to paddy farmers for irrigation during the on-going Kharif season in order to provide relief to growers in times of erratic monsoon.
“One major decision which the government has taken in yesterday’s Cabinet meeting is to extend a budgetary provision of Rs 1,000 crore for the support of the (paddy) farmers who are using diesel pumps,” Pawar said on Friday.
The minister admitted that the coverage of the crop has slumped, while productivity, too, is expected to be impacted due to the late monsoon.
“Firstly, area (under paddy) is less. Secondly, we are expecting less productivity because of this gap (in monsoon arrival),” he added. (ANI) |

On Board Special Aircraft, July 23: Union Minister for External Affairs SM Krishna on Thursday said that Pakistan should show the same force in fighting anti-India terrorists and organisations in the same manner as it has done in fighting Taliban and other militant organisations in Swat.
"Pakistan has taken certain steps in fighting Taliban in Swat and we expect that Pakistan should go after the Talibans who are directed against India with the same force that they have been going after Taliban in Swat. That's what we expect from Pakistan," Krishna told journalists when asked if Pakistan was showing commitment in fighting terrorists who target India.
"Any terrorist who has taken a position and whose role in handling a terrorist organization aimed at India, the emphasis is any head of a terrorist organization which is directed against India, I think Pakistan should take action against them," Krishna added.
Krishna said this while interacting with journalists while returning from Thailand, where he participated in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Regional Forum meeting.
Krishna further highlighted that both India and Pakistan would have to work together, if they have to successfully counter the terrorist organistions and terrorists, who have been active in both the countries and have been responsible for loss of thousands of innocent people.
"Terror prospects and happening on the terror front in the region has to be fought on more than one front and we'll (India and Pakistan) have to work more closely together to fight terrorism," Krishna added.
Meanwhile, the minister also added that Pakistan Foreign Minister has claimed that Pakistan has been a victim of terror, so they will join hands with other countries to fight and control terror. (ANI) |
